PAX TAG
Established in 2005, the Pangolin, Aardvark and Xenarthra Taxon Advisory Group (PAX TAG) of the Association of Zoos and Aquariums (AZA) supports the conservation of pangolins, aardvarks, and xenarthrans around the world through captive management, conservation education, and engagement in in situ management and conservation programs. Advocacy for these species—both in captivity and the wild– is also part of the PAX TAG’s mission.

Initiated by Dr. Flávia Miranda, member of the IUCN SSC Anteater, Sloth and Armadillo Specialist Group, this Brazilian NGO is dedicated to the in situ and ex situ conservation of xenarthrans.

Directory of IUCN SSC Specialist Groups
The IUCN Species Survival Commission (SSC) is a science-based network of more than 10,000 volunteer experts working together in more than 140 Specialist Groups, Red List Authorities and Task Forces. Some groups address conservation issues related to particular groups of plants, fungi or animals while others focus on broader issues such as reintroduction of species into former habitats, climate change, wildlife health and sustainable use and trade.

Nurtured by Nature develops, implements, and provides sustainable interactions with the wonders of nature and environmentally sustainable breeding conservation programs for several species of reptiles and mammals, including three-banded armadillos (Tolypeutes matacus).
